In addition to the beads for macro-sealing, as with component distortion, the exhaust manifold gaskets can be coated with a hightemperature resistant powdered lacquer of thermo-glide®, which provides an even better micro-adaptation to scratches and scores. In particular, considerably better sealing of the exhaust system is required to comply with the tight Euro 4 emission standards.

Intake duct The integration of ducts serves to direct hot air for warming the intake air and direct cold air to cool the exhaust manifold by means of controlled airflows. Steel tubes with upset lower edges are swaged firmly into the shield by means of crimped connections. This functional extension requires sufficiently rugged shielding elements. The sandwich construction used by VICTOR REINZ in combination with reinforcing ribs enables the simple and safe integration of ducts. Apart from straight ducts, curved ducts with any bend radius are also possible.
Holder for lambda sensor The sensing head of the lambda sensor is screwed directly into the exhaust manifold. A shield protects the lambda sensor from excessive heat. In this case, the shielding system acts as a seal, without the need for additional sealing elements. The lambda sensor itself is protected either by a swaged-in bush (steel pipe) in the shield, or it is surrounded by a hood. The hood is a separate part, which is riveted to a cutout in the shield. Here, sliding washers can be used, which reliably compensate for tolerances caused by the exhaust manifold heat.
