Manufacturing Innovation: The VICTOR REINZ press forming process

Maximum process safety with the VICTOR REINZ press forming process: pre-formed steel sheet – sheet with inlay – folded sheet with circumferential

The VICTOR REINZ press forming technique enables us to produce durable shielding systems with extremely low surface weight, utmost break resistance, and high stability. In spite of the low installed thickness, the Components manufactured with this process are self-supporting. Oscillation behavior and structural strength are optimized by means of stiffening ribs and material reinforcements. In addition, the engine compartment’s aesthetics – an increasingly important aspect – are also taken into account: Press forming permits harmonious, flowing shapes to be produced. In addition to pleasing aesthetics, these shapes also provide our shielding systems with technical advantages: The lack of sharp corners and edges make them very convenient to install, especially in tight spaces. Their self-supporting construction also leads to a reduced number of fixing points. These are just a few of the advantages that are not possible with conventional deepdrawing or creasing/folding techniques.

Intelligent manufacturing procedures Practically all manufacturing procedures at VICTOR REINZ are automated and robot-controlled. Our Production lines have a modular layout with clearly structured manufacturing cells, which increases the overall productivity of our own Plants and enables us to offer an attractive price/performance ratio. This structure allows us to install a new production line at short notice in any of our sites worldwide. VICTOR REINZ is also paving the way in tooling technology. Due to quantityrelated tooling concepts, in particular for small runs, only the really necessary costs are incurred.

Circumferential edge protection – a sign of quality In addition to maximizing quality and technology, VICTOR REINZ also considers the individuals who work with these components on a daily basis. That’s why every shielding system from VICTOR REINZ features circumferential edge protection without cutouts. During the manufacturing process, the metal sheets are folded at the edges, resulting in a continuous, rounded contour. Apart from the additional stiffness and stability provided by the folded edge, the shielding components are also safer to handle – there is no risk of injury during installation or repair.
