The company Ecolab, formerly Henkel ecolab, is the market leader in the area of industrial cleaning agents. In a test laboratory the product manufacturers for the food industry can have their products tested for resistance to cleaning agents. ifm has obtained ecolab test certificates for Sensors and AS-i components. The units of the categories 1 and 2 have been tested and approved by a notified European body (e.g. PTB, EXAM) for use in hazardous areas. Units with this marking meet the requirements of UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association). In many cases this approval is necessary to access the North American market. cULus is a combined approval and corresponds to the two individual approvals CSA and UL.
